The prevention of chest infections is important for the majority of people with lung disease. We recommend that our patients are vaccinated against
- Seasonal influenza – annual vaccination against the likely strains of influenza in Australia
- Whooping cough – for most people who have had a primary course of whooping cough vaccination, a booster as an adult is sufficient
- Pneumococcal pneumonia – one shot at age 65, then a booster five years later
Vaccinations are readily available from your General Practitioner and many pharmacies.
